THE BLOCK ARCADE

This heritage shopping arcade in Melbourne CBD was built in 1891 with opulently designed indoor spaces meant to resemble the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. Listed as a National Trust and on the register of the National Estate, it is most well known for housing the largest mosaic floor area in Australia and a magnificent etched glass roof with decorative wrought iron and timber supports. Today, the Arcade is home to a range of high-end retailers, cafés and restaurants.
